SAMARA. June 8 (Interfax) - Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) officers in Samara have confiscated more than 70 kilograms of heroin and hashish from a man, who arrived from the Novosibirsk region, FSB said in a press release.
"The operation helped dismantle the activities of an international organized criminal group, which specialized in smuggling large hauls of drugs into Russia. As a result of joint operations conducted together with the FSB branch for the Novosibirsk region, Russian citizen Rinat Rakhimov was detained while delivering a large drug haul to Samara," it said.
A total of 21.5 kilograms of heroin and 49 kilograms of hashish hidden in sacks with clothes were found in Rakhimov's car. The man was detained.
The operation was conducted in May.
The drugs arrived from Central Asia, FSB said.
