MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - Russia's state arms trader Rosoboronexport has been increasing exports of weaponry for land troops, said the company's deputy general director Igor Sevastyanov.
"Weaponry for land troops accounted for 21% of the structure of the company's exports in 2011. It would be premature to cite any figures for the current year, but exports of weapons for land troops have been increasing over the past three years," Sevastyanov said in an interview with Interfax-AVN.
Russia has been maintaining its positions on traditional markets and is exploring new ones, he also said.
"But there are untapped reserves, as well. Production lines are being upgraded and capacities have been increasing," Sevastyanov said.
It is important not only to increase the volume of exports, but also to enhance the quality of products, he said.
"Uralvagonzavod is a vivid example of successful work. It has been deeply restructured in recent years and is advancing confidently along the path of innovation," he added.
Rosoboronexport has been offering its potential clients the TOS-1A heavy flamethrower for two years now, he said.
Sevastyanov will head a combined delegation of the Russian Technologies state corporation and Rosoboronexport at the Eurosatory-2012 land security defense international exhibition, to be held in Paris from June 11 to 15.
