TEHRAN. June 8 (Interfax) - Broader relations in strategic cooperation between Russia and Iran meet the interests of the regional states, Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, told Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
"Strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow aims to bring the balance of forces in compliance with the interests of the regional states," he said.
Constructive interaction between Iran and Russia will bring stability and security to the region," the Iranian Press TV television channel quoted Jalili as saying on Friday.
Jalili and Patrushev met on Friday on the sidelines of an international conference of high representatives in charge of security matters.
Patrushev, in turn, said that the emergence of new problems in the international arena requires more intensive dialogue and cooperation between the two countries, according to the Iranian television channel.
