MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - Any decision regarding the Caspian Sea, without the consensus of the five Caspian states, will be illegitimate.
"Given the persistent attempts by the European Union to promote the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, Vladimir Putin has explained in detail the legal situation around the Caspian Sea. Any decision regarding the Caspian Sea can only be made on the basis of a consensus of the five littoral states. Otherwise, they will be illegitimate. The EU cannot ignore this aspect," Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov told reporters after the EU-Russia summit.
