MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Northern Fleet's naval aviation crews will practice new rescue techniques at sea, Northern Fleet spokesman Yevgeny Kirillov told Interfax on Friday.
The fleet's pilots are intensively learning techniques of rescuing people from ships in distress, he said.
The crew of a Kamov Ka-27 rescue helicopter practiced four methods of evacuating a "patient" from the docked Nadezhda container carrier, Kirillov said.
An intensified training program for the Northern Fleet's rescue services is due in the first place for the development of the Northern Sea Route, he also said.
The range of the Northern Fleet's rescue services is between 200 kilometers when helicopters are used and 2,500 kilometers with the use of Ilyushin Il-38 or Antonov An-26 planes, Kirillov said.
