U.S., Russia to continue coordinating efforts to implement Syria peace plan - embassy

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Russia and the United States have reaffirmed their support for Kofi Annan's plan for Syria and will continue coordinating their efforts to unite the international community around it, the U.S. Embassy to Russia said in a press release obtained by Interfax.

The U.S. Department of State Special Coordinator on Syria Frederic Hof and U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul held consultations on Syria with Russian Deputy Foreign Ministers Mikhail Bogdanov and Gennady Gatilov in Moscow on Friday, the press release said.

The parties reaffirmed their support for the six-point plan of special envoy Kofi Annan and discussed ways of uniting international community around this plan. Moscow and Washington will continue to closely coordinate their efforts on this problem, the U.S. Embassy said.
