Three militants neutralized in Kabardino-Balkaria - NAC

MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - One more militant has been neutralized in Kabardino-Balkaria, which has brought the number of militants killed in a sting security operation in the republic to three, Russia's National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) has announced.

Four police officers were wounded during the operation. None of the local civilians was affected, the NAC said in a statement, received by Interfax.

The third of the neutralized militants has been identified as Zhiraslan Guketlov, 27, who was placed on the federal wanted list in 2011 on suspicion of making attempts on the lives of law enforcement officials and leaving his military unit without permission, the NAC has reported.

The NAC said earlier on Sunday that two militants had been killed in Baksan in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The NAC's headquarters in the republic declared a counterterrorist operation regime in Baksan after a security service officer was wounded in an attack and later died in a hospital.
