Indonesian satellite Telkom-3 launch postponed - source

BAIKONUR. July 3 (Interfax) - A date has been set for the launch from Baikonur Cosmodrome of the Proton-M carrier rocket with the Russian Express-MD2 spacecraft and Indonesian satellite Telkom-3, a Baikonur source told Interfax.

"The date for the collective launch of the Express-MD2 and Telkom-3 spacecrafts has been shifted from July 25 to July 26," the source said.

The date adjustment was necessary because the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) postponed the launch of the Sirius-5 telecommunications satellite atop the Proton-M rocket from July 7 to 9, he said.

"The technological working cycle at the launch has been clearly set, it cannot be 'compressed' to save another day or two," the source said.

The launch of the Sirius-5 satellite initially scheduled for July 7 had been postponed until July 9, Roscosmos said earlier.

"During preparations for the launch of the Sirius-5 spacecraft the state commission decided to hold additional checks on the Proton-M carrier rocket," the Russian space agency said on its website.
