Kyrgyzstan will no longer celebrate anniversary of Revolution of Tulips

BISHKEK. July 6 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan has omitted from the list of holidays March 24 - the anniversary of the Revolution of Tulips in which President Askar Akayev was toppled and his place was taken by Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev signed a relevant bill, Interfax was told at the presidential press service on Friday.

"The said law omits March 24 from the list of holidays and days-off," the press service said.

The Revolution of Tulips took place on March 24, 2005, bringing to power Kurmanbek Bakiyev who was later overturned on April 7, 2010.
