MOSCOW. July 13 (Interfax) - Russia has not recently signed new contracts on the delivery of weapons to Syria.
"We have not been providing Syria with any weapons that could be used in the military confrontation with the opposition or against the civilian population in Syria," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told Interfax after members of the opposition Syrian National Council accused President Bashar al-Assad's regime of using Russian-made weapons against civilians.
"Everything that was exported under previous contracts was intended mainly for air defense purposes. Russia has not recently signed any new contracts on the delivery of weapons to Syria," he said.
