Russian defense industry will become independent of foreign avionics producers soon - expert

FARNBOROUGH, UK. July 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's avionics manufacturers have displayed products at the Farnborough international air show in Britain, which help do away with the Russian defense industry's technological dependence on France, Avionics Concern President Sergei Kolyadin has said.

"The Ramensky Instrument-Building Plant is close to launching the production of a high-technology product which will help the Russian defense industry become technologically independent of France. This is crucial for defense orders, where the use of foreign-made products is limited," Kolyadin told Interfax-AVN at the Farnborough air show.

The Ramensky Instrument-Building Plant, which is part of the Avionics Concern, has developed strapdown inertial reference systems for aircraft, he said.
