Moscow-Kyiv talks never addressed Tuzla Island belonging - Ukrainian Foreign Ministry

KYIV. July 13 (Interfax) - Ukraine's ownership of Tuzla Island has never been called into question or discussed during border delimitation talks with Russia, Oleh Voloshin, director of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's Information Policy Department, told Interfax on Friday.

"The Tuzla issue was not even discussed at negotiations over all of these years. The fact that the island belongs to Ukraine has never been called into question," he said.

The talks, the completion of which was announced by the Ukrainian and Russian presidents on Thursday, addressed exclusively the delimitation of water sections of the border in the Azov and Black Seas and the Strait of Kerch, Voloshin said.

The sides agreed the rules for using the strait, he added, refusing to offer further details.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin announced earlier that the two countries had finished talks on the delimitation of the Azov and Black Seas and the Strait of Kerch.
