MOSCOW. July 13 (Interfax) - Two militants were killed during a security operation in the mountains in eastern Chechnya, a source in North Caucasus law enforcement agencies told Interfax on Friday.
"Police officers, acting on a tip-off, were combing the forest near the village of Shirdi-Mokhk on Friday morning when they came across two young people carrying weapons. The officers asked them to surrender their arms, but the militants opened fire. The policemen fired back, killing them," he said.
None of the officers was killed or injured, the source said.
The militants are being identified.
