VLADIVOSTOK. July 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Warships of the Pacific Fleet have returned to their home bases in southern Primorye and in Kamchatka after conducting a series of successful maritime warfare exercises in the Sea of Japan and Okhotsk, the Eastern Military District's press service has reported.
"Up to 7,000 military and civilian personnel took part in the training, and over 40 warships, 20 logistics vessels and 40 aircraft, including helicopters, were involved," the press service said.
The maneuvers were held in Peter the Great Strait, Tatar Strait and the southern sector of the Sea of Okhotsk in June and July. The crews will now focus on the systems' and weapons' maintenance.
The goal of the maritime warfare exercises was to check the fleet's readiness for operations within inter-service task forces on security missions in Russia's Far East, the press service said.
