Russian Aerospace Defense Forces to conduct first exercises firing S-400 air defense systems in August

MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Aerospace Defense Forces will conduct first training exercises involving the firing of S-400 air defense systems at the Ashuluk range in the Astrakhan region from August 10 through 16, 2012, Lt. Col. Dmitry Zenin, a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman for the Aerospace Defense Forces, told Interfax-AVN on Saturday.

"The first tactical exercises of Aerospace Defense Forces units including the firing of S-400 air defense systems and Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air anti-aircraft missile systems will take place at the Ashuluk range from August 10 through 16," Zenin said.

Taking part in the exercises will be two divisions from an S-400 regiment stationed in Dmitrov, the Moscow region, he said.
