MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax-AVN) - A combined unit of Russian Navy ships heading for the Mediterranean is prepared to escort the Alaed cargo ship carrying Mi-25 helicopters that have undergone repairs in Russia and are to be returned to Syria, a Navy Main Staff spokesperson told Interfax-AVN on Saturday.
"Nobody has yet tasked us with escorting the vessel, but we understand that such an order can be issued at any moment, and therefore we have already planned an operation to escort the Alaed. Its details are being finalized, and information and factors that could affect it along the entire route are being updated," he said.
