MOSCOW. July 19 (Interfax) - Russia is willing to delegate up to 30 military servicemen to a UN observation mission for Syria to act as liaison officers, military observers, and staff officers, says a presidential directive published on the official web portal of legal information.
The president instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to notify the UN Secretariat about this.
Upon receiving a relevant address from the UN Secretariat, the Russian Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry should settle organizational issues, including those concerning the area where Russian servicemen would act, their accommodation, role, subordination, and replacement procedure.
The costs of the deployment of Russian officers as part of the UN mission will be financed by the UN.
