ULYANOVSK. Aug 1 (Interfax) - The Airborne Force will be left as an arm of the Armed Forces of Russia, President Vladimir Putin has said.
"The Airborne Force will remain as an arm of service. We have made an exception for it," he said answering a question at a Wednesday meeting with current and former servicemen of the force about the prospect of keeping the Airborne Force as a separate arm of service in the process of the current military reform in Russia.
Putin said he is aware of the concerns of current and veteran paratroopers about the future of the force.
