BAKU. Aug 9 (Interfax) - The UN Security Council, responding to Azerbaijan's request, will verify Armenian media reports claiming that Yerevan plans to settle Armenian refugees from Syria and Lebanon on the occupied territories of Nagorno-Karabakh.
"We have raised this issue within the UN Security Council and asked the council's structures in charge of Syria to pay attention to it," Baku's UN Envoy Akshin Mehtiyev told the Lider television station.
The UN Security Council promised to look into this issue, he said.
"If this information [about plans to illegally settle refugees on the occupied territories] is confirmed, we will be able to demand that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen take certain measures and bring up this issue at the UN Security Council in a different way," the envoy said.
