Moscow condemns terrorist attacks in Iraq

MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned yesterday's terrorist attacks in Baghdad and elsewhere in Iraq, in which more than 90 people were killed.

"Moscow decisively condemns the attacks. Nothing can justify the crimes committed by terrorists. We offer our condolences to the families of the killed and wish the wounded a speedy recovery," the ministry's Press and Information Department said in a statement.

Most of the victims were Iraqi policemen. Over 300 people, including civilians, were wounded.

"In the context of the tragic events in Iraq, we would like to reiterate Russia's firm support of the Iraqi government's efforts to restore law and order in the country and fight radicals of all stripes," the statement says.

"The Russian side will stick to its position aimed at protecting the principles of the unity and territorial integrity of the Republic of Iraq and resolving the political and socio-economic problems facing the Iraqis within the constitutional frames and on the basis of a broad, inclusive and nationwide dialogue, the ministry said.
