Moscow raps attempts to "drag" Syria issue into Intl Criminal Court

MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - "There are no legal grounds" for proposals to refer the Syrian conflict to an international court, and the UN Security Council must be the supreme authority in dealing with the matter, Russia's Foreign Ministry argued on Thursday.

"There are no legal grounds for the attempts of some states to drag this problem into the International Criminal Court or other international judiciary bodies," ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told a briefing in Moscow.

He argued that the UN Security Council must have the final say on the issue. He mentioned that the council has issued two resolutions on it.
