EU officially invites Ivanishvili to Brussels

TBILISI. Oct 19 (Interfax) - Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of the Georgian Dream coalition, which won the October 1 parliamentary elections, and candidate for Georgian prime minister, has received an official invitation from the European Union leadership to visit Brussels.

"European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fuele handed an official invitation to visit Brussels to Bidzina Ivanishvili at today's meeting," David Usupashvili, a candidate for Georgian parliament speaker, who attended Ivanishvili's meeting with Fuele, told journalists.

Preparations for Ivanishvili's visit to Brussels will start in the near future. Ivanishvili is expected to meet with all EU top leaders, he said.

While in Tbilisi, Fuele also met with candidate for Georgian Defense Minister Irakly Alasania.
