MOSCOW; Oct 25 (Interfax) - Forty-five thousand crimes related to corruption have been solved in Russia since the beginning of the year, said Sergei Solopov, deputy head of the Russian Interior Ministry's Main Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department.
"As many as 45,000 corruption-related crimes have been exposed in this country since January and 8,000 people have been prosecuted," he told journalists on Wednesday.
The money recovered amounts to 14 billion rubles, Solopov said.
"Twenty-five lawmakers at various levels, five regional ministers, six deputy ministers, 48 district government heads and 17 heads of municipal authorities have been prosecuted since the beginning of the year on charges of corruption," he said.
Efforts to expose such crimes has become more effective now than previously, he added.
