Cases of Bishkek ex-mayor, other former Kyrgyz officials merged

BISHKEK. Nov 2 (Interfax) - The criminal investigation against parliamentarian Nariman Tyuleyev, a former mayor of the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek, has been completed, a Prosecutor General's Office spokesman told Interfax.

The case of Tyuleyev, who is suspected of corruption and causing damage of more than $4 million to the country's budget, has been merged with the criminal cases opened against other former officials of Bishkek's City Hall and municipal enterprises.

"Tyuleyev faces charges of criminal complicity, corruption and money laundering. He was remanded into custody until November 15, 2012," the spokesman said.

Similar changes were filed against another six people who have already been remanded into custody.

"All of the suspects were charged officially on October 29. It was announced on November 1 that the investigation has been completed and the defendants were studying the case files," he said.

Tyuleyev was detained at the end of June 2012.
