Syrian opposition ready for talks with govt on political regime change - NCC deputy chairman

MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - The internal Syrian opposition is ready for negotiations with Syrian authorities on changing the political regime in the country, Aref Dalila, a deputy chairman of the Syrian National Coordination Committee for the Forces of Democratic Change (NCC), told journalists on Thursday.

"There are two different terms: dialogue and negotiations. The existing regime is talking about a dialogue. We are not prepared for a dialogue but for negotiations on changing the regime," Dalila said in reply to a question from Interfax.

NCC Chairman Hassan Abdel Azim said members of the internal Syrian opposition plan to say at upcoming negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that it is necessary to stop violence and attempts to solve the crisis in Syria in a military way.

"We will talk about how to oppose violence, destruction, murders, and other dangerous events happening in Syria and also that we and all other parties need a dialogue to stop all this," Abdel Azim said.

It was reported earlier that members of the Syrian opposition will hold negotiations with Lavrov and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov in Moscow on November 29.
