MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Four suspects in the high-profile criminal case connected with fraud in St. Petersburg's housing utility sector have been brought to Moscow, the Interior Ministry's press center told Interfax on Friday.
"All of them have been detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Criminal Code and they could be taken into custody on Friday" the press center said.
Travel restrictions have been imposed on four other suspects.
The head of St. Petersburg's Energy and Engineering Infrastructure Committee Vladislav Petrov, whose apartment was searched on Thursday, remains a witness in this criminal case.
Earlier reports said that officials with St. Petersburg's energy and engineering infrastructure department charged with fraud have been questioned.
The questioning lasted until about midnight and most people went home, "but some were taken to Moscow," a law enforcement source told Interfax on Friday.
Ten officials were brought to the city police department on Thursday to be questioned as part of the criminal inquiry into mishandling of funding provided to build and repair heating and water supply systems, among them head of the city's energy committee Vladislav Petrov.
Police earlier exposed an organized group suspected of misappropriating 3 billion rubles in funds from the city budget.
The Russian Interior Ministry reported that 18 million rubles, $100,000 and 100,000 Euros in cash were discovered at Petrov's apartment alone.
