MOSCOW. Dec 6 (Interfax) - Investigators have concluded that the murder of news reporter Kazbek Gekkiyev in Kabardino-Balkaria was a warning to other journalists who cover the crackdown on militants in the North Caucasus, Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Thursday.
"It already possible to say that Gekkiyev was killed most likely in retaliation for his work. This outrageous crime was a warning to other journalists who cover the results of the fight against gangs active in the republic," he said.
