CSTO supports positive aspects of OSCE reform

MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) - Nikolai Bordyuzha, the secretary-general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), took part in the 19th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Dublin on December 6-7, 2012.

"Before the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Dublin on December 6, 2012, the CSTO foreign ministers had a working meeting, at which they discussed coordination of their positions on the OSCE Ministerial Council agenda and other aspects of interaction between the member-states," CSTO press secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

"The CSTO foreign ministers have agreed upon a joint statement at the 19th OSCE Ministerial Council, drawn up by Kazakhstan, which is holding CSTO chairmanship now, to be circulated during the OSCE Ministerial Council," he said.

The statement is aimed at "supporting positive trends of the OSCE reform and improvement in the interests of building an indivisible Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian security community stretching from Vancouver to Vladivostok, based on agreed norms, principles, joint obligations and goals," Zainetdinov said.

"The statement expresses support for the Helsinki +40 process initiated by the Irish chairmanship and reaffirms the CSTO members' preparedness for constructive interaction with other OSCE members in the interests of strengthening equal and indivisible security and stability in the OSCE responsibility area," Zainetdinov said.

The ministers also coordinated draft documents to be considered at a session of the CSTO charter bodies in December 2012, including a statement by the CSTO members and documents dealing with further coordination of foreign political activities within the framework of international organizations, he said.
