SUKHUMI. Dec 17 (Interfax) - The Georgian delegation to the Geneva consultations on stability and security in the South Caucasus has rejected the proposal by Abkhazia and South Ossetia to merge two working parties, which elaborate security measures and resolve humanitarian problems, Abkhaz Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Chirikba said in an interview with Interfax on Saturday.
"The Georgian delegation bluntly rejected the offer without any explanations. The reaction of the Georgian delegates to the Russian draft statement on the non-use of force was negative and highly emotional," he said.
Georgia turned down the proposal to change the format of negotiations, from the level of experts to the level of delegations, Chirikba said. EU cochairman of the Geneva consultations Philippe Lefort (France) made a similar suggestion.
Summing up results of the 22nd round of the Geneva consultations, Chirikba said the Georgian position ended the round ahead of time. The sides did not discuss the non-use of force and some other important subjects, he said.
"Alas, we did not hear any fresh ideas or proposals from the renewed Georgian delegation. This means the Geneva consultations may have the soonest sad finale," the minister said.
"Not a single problem can be solved with the mere repetition of old boring mantras about "Georgia's territorial integrity"," he said.
