MOSCOW. Dec 19 (Interfax) - Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member countries will discuss the upgrading of military cooperation at a Moscow session on Wednesday.
Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters about the session agenda and procedure.
The session will start in a narrow circle and other delegates will join in later. A number of multilateral documents will be signed.
"The agenda includes the upgrading of the collective security system and military cooperation. A traditional item of recent years is Afghanistan; the emphasis will be put on the elaboration of concrete measures to deter challenges coming from that country," Ushakov said.
Organizational and administrative decisions will be made.
"There is a preliminary agreement to re-elect Nikolai Bordyuzha for secretary-general," he said.
Further membership of Uzbekistan in the CSTO will also be discussed. The Uzbek Foreign Ministry informed the CSTO Secretariat in June that Uzbekistan wished to suspend its membership in the organization.
"The session will make a decision, which has been prepared and coordinated with CSTO member countries," Ushakov said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will attend the session.
