KYIV. Dec 29 (Interfax) - A total of 26 people are expected to arrive at Boryspil Airport from Beirut on Friday on a flight by the Ukrainian-Mediterranean Airlines (UM Air) as a part of the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Syria, the information policy department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reports.
According to the department, 11 Ukrainian women, 13 children and three male citizens of Syria, who are members of the families of Ukrainian citizens, are expected to arrive.
"This time our countrymen were evacuated from Damascus (by ground vehicles of the Ukrainian embassy in Lebanon) and Aleppo (by a regular flight to Beirut) and are flown to Ukraine," the report says. The evacuation is financed by the Ukraine Foreign Ministry.
The ministry says that since the beginning of 2012 due to the escalation of the conflict in Syria, Ukraine has evacuated 361 citizens, including the current stage of evacuation. The International Organization for Migration helped 139 other Ukrainians return.
