MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Debris of the Soviet earth observation satellite Cosmos-1484, which does not burn in dense atmospheric layers, may fall over the Earth on January 12, according to the U.S. Strategic Command.
The satellite of about six meters may enter dense layers of the atmosphere approximately on January 11. Earlier forecasts said that could happen on December 19, 2012, and on January 7 or 11, 2013.
Open sources said that Cosmos-1484 was launched from Baikonur in 1983 to study natural resources. Its other name is Resurs-OE, in which E stands for "experimental".
Cosmos-1484 had an orbit with the inclination of 98 degrees, the apogee of 673 kilometers and the perigee of 595 kilometers.
