Lavrov wants to propose "some" ideas at Transdniestria talks in February

CHERNIVTSI, Ukraine. Jan 14 (Interfax) - The next 5+2 talks on Transdniestria will be held in Lviv in mid-February, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has announced.

"We, indeed, are not only mediators, but guarantors in the 5+2 format, restarted a year ago, and we bear special responsibility. Therefore, I see the agreement to coordinate our moves more intensively in promoting the 5+2 format as quite natural," he said at a news conference after talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Leonid Kozhara.

"Regular talks in the 5+2 format will be held in Lviv in the middle of February. I hope we will enter the talks carrying some ideas that will accelerate the formation of an environment for starting political discussions," he said.

He said "environment" implies an agreement to tackle problems that continue impeding trust between Chisinau and Tiraspol, as well as problems that must be solved if citizens on both banks for the Dniester are to be offered a more comfortable life.
