VLADIVOSTOK. Jan 15 (Interfax-AVN) - The large anti-sub ship Marshal Shaposhnikov of the Russian Pacific Fleet is escorting a civilian convoy, fleet spokesman Capt. 1st Class Roman Martov told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.
"The convoy consists of ships from Greece and Panama. The Shaposhnikov is leading them through the security corridor towards the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait," Martov said.
Earlier a unit of Pacific Fleet ships replenished food and water reserves, had maintenance works and held anti-terrorist exercises in the Arabian Sea.
The unit comprises the Marshal Shaposhnikov, the medium sea tanker Irkut and the tugboat Alatau, Martov said. It came to the Gulf of Aden in late December 2012 on an anti-piracy mission accomplished within the international forces.
