MOSCOW/NALCHIK. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Three militants have been eliminated and three of their accomplices detained in a Wednesday special effort in Tyrnauz, Kabardino-Balkaria, the information center of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) says.
"According to our knowledge, members of the eliminated militant group were involved in attacks on law enforcers and the extortion of money from local businessmen. They were also preparing armed attacks on government officials and law enforcement personnel this month. Thus the timely actions of the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Interior Ministry prevented a series of terrorist acts in the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria," the NAC report says.
