Ex-Georgian deputy interior minister released on bail

TBILISI. Jan 18 (Interfax) - The Tbilisi City Court released former Deputy Interior Minister Shota Khizanishvili on bail of 35,000 lari (more than $20,000) on Thursday.

Lawyer Mamuka Chabashvili told reporters the accusations of a false denunciation and abuse of office were unfounded.

He hopes his client will be acquitted at a court hearing due within several weeks.
