TASHKENT. Jan 21 (Interfax) - OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier is arriving in Tashkent for a visit on Monday, the website of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry says.
"The itinerary of the visit implies meetings and talks in parliament, at the Foreign Ministry, and several other ministries and agencies," the report says.
Uzbekistan has been a member-state of OSCE since February 26, 1992. Its mission at the OSCE headquarters in Vienna started operating in 1994. The OSCE Liaison Bureau for Central Asia opened in Tashkent in 1995 at the initiative of the Uzbek side. In 1999 it was renamed the OSCE Center in Tashkent.
Presently, Uzbekistan is working on 30 OSCE projects. The main emphasis in cooperation is on the observation of the OSCE principles and commitments undertaken by Uzbekistan in all three dimensions considering new challenges and security threats, the international agenda and the national interests of Uzbekistan.
