MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - The flight data recorders from the Russian-crewed Mil Mi-8 helicopter, which was shot down by South Sudan's Armed Forces, were delivered to Moscow on January 21, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report on Tuesday.
"The Russian Foreign Ministry welcomes the decision made by the authorities of the Republic of South Sudan to hand over the flight data recorders from the Nizhnevartovskavia carrier's Mi-8 helicopter, which was shot down by this country's Armed Forces while flying a mission for the UN in South Sudan, to the Russian side. The black boxes were delivered to Moscow on January 21, accompanied by representatives of the airline, UNMISS [the UN Mission in South Sudan] and South Sudanese aviation authorities," it said.
