Five Su-34 tactical bombers enter service with Russian Air Force

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - Three of the five Sukhoi Su-34 advanced tactical bombers landed at Baltimor airfield of the Voronezh air base at 2:20 p.m. Moscow time on Friday, spokesman for the Western Military District Col. Andrei Bobrun has announced.

"The planes landed at 2:20 p.m. The other two are to arrive within an hour," Bobrun told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

He said high winds are blowing at the airfield. The crew has performed a direct flight from Sukhoi's Novosibirsk airfield to Baltimor, having covered about 4,000 kilometers.

"The air force of the Western Military District will now have two wings of 20 Su-34 modern tactical bombers," the press service said.

The Su-34 multirole frontline bomber is serially made at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Corporation which is part of Sukhoi holding. By its combat capabilities, Su-34 belongs to the 4+ generation. It is capable of hitting land, naval and air targets in any geographical region, day and night, using the entire arsenal of aircraft weapons, including smart weapons.
