KAZAN. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Tatarstan's Supreme Court has sentenced members of a drug smuggling criminal ring to various terms in jail for setting up a major drug smuggling network in Bugulma and Nizhnekamsk, and in Bashkortostan in 2007-2009.
The Tatarstan Interior Ministry told Interfax on Friday that two of the organizers - Radik Arsanov, 50, and Farit Miassarov, 42, got 17 and 15 years in a high security prison.
The others got from five to ten years.
The verdict has not taken effect yet.
The organized criminal group sold heroin in Tatarstan, mostly in its eastern regions, and in Bashkortostan.
Eleven people were detained between 2009 and 2011, including organizers and members who played different roles in the organization.
All of them are residents of Tatarstan and most of them come from Bugulma.
More than 2 kilograms of drugs: heroin, marijuana and hashish, as well as firearms and ammunition were seized from the drug deals.
