Shoigu meets with Armenian president

YEREVAN. Jan 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu arrived in Yerevan on an official visit on Monday, where he was received by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Shoigu's spokeswoman Darya Zazulina told Interfax-AVN.

"Relations between our two countries are very warm. The example here is being set by our leaders. We must match this practice at our level," Zatulina quoted Shoigu as saying.

Shoigu and Sargsyan recalled Shoigu's previous visits to Armenia and the role he played as Russia's emergency situations minister when Armenian was hit by an earthquake.

Reports said earlier that Shoigu is to meet with Sargsyan and with Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian "to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation," according to Zatulina.
