MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - Russia has a number of questions for the organizers of the international donor conference for Syria, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told a Thursday press briefing in Moscow.
"Numerous questions provoked by that forum remain unanswered. For instance, we do not understand the logic of the organizers who did not send an invitation to Syrian government representatives," he said.
"It is also unclear who will receive the promised assistance, who will dispose of it and who will control its proper use," he said.
"In fact, it is hard to explain the actions of those who imposed tough economic sanctions on Syria at first and then showed care for those who suffered from those sanctions," the diplomat said.
An international conference was held in Kuwait on January 31 under the UN aegis to declare consolidation of assistance to the people of Syria, Lukashevich said. The Russian ambassador to Kuwait represented Russia at that conference.
