Russian deputy foreign minister, Chinese ambassador to Russia discuss situation on Korea Peninsula

MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov met with Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui on Thursday.

"The meeting participants exchanged opinions on the current issues relating to the bilateral agenda and vital international issues, including the situation on the Korean Peninsula," a report posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website says.

The report says Morgulov had met with the Chinese ambassador at his request.

The Chunan Ilbo newspaper reported earlier on Thursday, citing informed South Korean sources, that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un had issued a secret order to complete preparations for a nuclear test and conduct this test in the near future.

The sources reported that Kim Jong Un had also ordered to impose a state of martial law in North Korea. "The country will be in a state of martial law beginning from midnight on January 29, and all units on the frontline [with South Korea] and the central regions are to be ready for war," the sources quoted Kim Jong Un's statement as saying.
