MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Energomash manufacturer will promptly analyze the telemetry from the Zenit launch vehicle that fell into the Pacific Ocean shortly after takeoff as part of the Sea Launch program on Friday, the company's head Vladimir Solntsev told Interfax-AVN.
"So far we do not have these telemetric data. But we will analyze it promptly as soon as this information appears," he said.
"The first stage of the rocket malfunctioned. The rocket took an incorrect trajectory immediately after takeoff," a space rocket industry source told Interfax.
The rocket's first stage, powered by an RD-171 engine provided by Energomash, failed, causing the launch vehicle to fall into the ocean.
