MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian inspectors will fly an aerial surveillance flight aboard an Antonov An-30B plane over Greece under the Open Skies Treaty, a Defense Ministry spokesman told Interfax-AVN on Friday.
"The flight will be performed between February 4 and 8 from Nea Anchialos airport to a maximum distance of 1,010 kilometers. The route will have been agreed, and Russian and Greek personnel will observe compliance with the rules of using surveillance equipment and with the agreements signed," he said.
The purpose of this mission is to promote transparency of the signatory states' military activities, and to strengthen security through stronger trust-building measures, the spokesman said.
It will be the first surveillance flight Russia will perform over the signatory states in 2013.
