BAKU. Feb 1 (Interfax) - More than 40% of non-military cargo dispatched to Afghanistan through the Northern Distribution Network (NDN) goes across Azerbaijan, Azeri Ambassador to the United States Elin Suleymanov said at the U.S. National Defense University.
NDN's transformation into a commercial corridor after the coalition's pullout from Afghanistan and engagement of regional countries will open up new vistas for Afghan economic and political development, the ambassador said. His speech was published on the embassy's website.
Being an important element of the U.S. strategy New Silk Route, the NDN may become a guarantor of stability in the middle of Eurasia, Suleymanov stressed.
