MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - Six jets from air force aerobatic demonstration team Russian Knights have set off for India to take part in the Aero India international aerospace exhibition in Bangalore, which starts on February 6, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Russian Knights will perform aerobatic demonstration flights from February 6 to February 10. Ten demonstration sessions are planned for them," the ministry told Interfax.
The five Sukhoi Su-27 fighters led by an Ilyushin Il-76 strategic airlifter that set off from an airfield in Kubinka, near Moscow, on Saturday are due in India on Sunday.
"The pilots will have individual, group and opposite-direction aerobatic maneuvers under the leadership of the commander of the aerobatic group, Lt. Col. Andrei Alexeyev. Two pieces of group aerobatics will be the peak of the program - simultaneous performance of a 'bell' by a pair of fighters and forming a 'diamond' via a full-afterburner maneuver," the ministry said.
The group is planned to return to Russia on February 14.
