Saakashvili, his supporters want to provoke civil confrontation - premier

TBILISI. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili has accused President Mikheil Saakashvili and members of his United National Movement of seeking to destabilize the situation in the country.

"These people do not know how to do things differently. They want to cause people to lose their temper. They seek to provoke civil confrontation and fan tensions," the prime minister said at a press conference on Tuesday.

"But they do not have any resources, and no one will be able to explode the situation in Georgia," he said.

Georgia's current opposition, including the Saakashvili-led party, keeps telling lies in order to discredit the new government, Ivanishvili said.

Addressing the president's upcoming annual State of the Nation Address, the prime minister said that he would not be present at the parliament hall because he did not think that he would "hear anything new from Saakashvili."
