Soyuz rocket to blast off Baikonur tonight

BAIKONUR. Feb 6 (Interfax) - A state commission at the Baikonur Space Center has authorized the fueling and launch of a Soyuz-2.1A rocket carrying six Globalstar telecom satellites, a space center representative told Interfax.

"The state commission has decided to fuel and launch the rocket," he said.

Consistent with the plan of pre-launch preparations, the rocket fueling with kerosene will start in 30 minutes and other fuel elements will be added later. The takeoff is planned for 8:04 p.m. Moscow time.

The launch was initially scheduled for 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, but delayed for a day by the state commission two hours before the takeoff because of high winds at the altitudes of 8-10 kilometers.
