MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has predicted "brilliant" relations between Iran and Russia, but added that "the historical lessons that have taken place between us in the past will be taken into consideration."
"We look into the future, in which our countries will have brilliant relations based on deep-seated contacts between our countries. But the historical lessons that have taken place between us in the past will be taken into consideration during our forward movement," Salehi said at a news conference in Moscow on Tuesday when asked by Interfax whether there is a chance of Russia resuming sales of S-300 surface-to-air missiles to the Islamic republic that were halted in compliance with UN sanctions against Iran.
Salehi argued that relations between countries can never be smooth all the time.
"I want to say that today we have had the 10th meeting of the intergovernmental commission, and in the course of that meeting we opened a new page in our relations," he said.
